This one was created for the 2022 Karuk Indigenous Women Training Exchange, held to honor the connection that Karuk women have with fire. Basketweavers and other women in Karuk culture have always had a strong connection with burning and fire, being leaders in their communities in burning, and connecting family and intergenerational groups to burning. This piece is about having communal and supportive fire practices, creating safe spaces for learning.
